SLDP Student 2023, Sandra Al Najjar

“My name is Sandra Al Najjar and I am a 2nd year Radiologic Technology student at Oakland University. After graduation I plan to work as an x-ray technologist and eventually pursue a career in MRI. I enjoy watching movies, love languages, and have two cats (Chulie and Coffee).”

The ASRT Student Leadership Development Program is “a three-year program that offers students a chance to get to know the ASRT, attend educational sessions, and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals.”

SLDP Student 2022, Leah Vandecar

“My name is Leah Vandecar and I am one of the two students selected for the SLDP in Michigan! I accidentally found the rad tech program at Oakland University, however after research thought it would be a great fit for me and I am now a senior student. I never want to give up being a rad tech completely, but my goals for my career are to continue on with school and hopefully become a PA or MD. I look forward to everything this program has to offer and all of the connections I will be making!”

SLDP Student 2022, Sara Nyquist

“Hello! My name is Sarah Nyquist and I am a senior in the RAD Tech program through Oakland University. My current modality interests are radiography, computed tomography, and radiologist assistant. This is my second year (out of three) in the SLDP, affiliated with the Michigan Society of Radiologic Technologists, and it has been a wonderful opportunity to meet representatives in the field and to advocate for its importance. I am looking forward to enhancing my skills as a technologist and as a leader throughout these three years!”
